This is the more common one, and it is worth naming precisely. A kid pictures a dragon that swoops down and breathes fire when you get too close. Then they open the editor, and between that picture and a working game sit forty minutes of finding the right blocks.

Some kids love those forty minutes — that is the craft, and they should be in Scratch. Other kids lose the thread entirely, and conclude they are bad at making things, which is both false and expensive.

Questions parents ask

Is Wonderkit better than Scratch?

No — it is a different activity. Scratch is one of the best things on the internet for kids, it is free, and if your kid enjoys assembling blocks they should keep using it. Wonderkit is worth trying when the block-assembly step is the thing stopping your kid, or when they are too young for it.

Will my kid still learn to code?

Not syntax, and we would rather say so plainly. What improves is the ability to describe something precisely, look at the result honestly and ask for the right change — the design half of building software. Plenty of families use both — Wonderkit for the idea, Scratch when a kid wants to control every detail themselves.

My kid tried Scratch and gave up. Will this be different?

Often, yes, and usually for one reason — the gap between the idea and the blocks needed to express it. Kids who quit Scratch frequently quit there, not at the idea. Removing the assembly step keeps them in the part they enjoy. It is not a guarantee, and the free tier exists so you can find out cheaply.

Can we use both?
